Thailand's appalling floods
An email from Sr Wantana IJS, Thai Province Leader28th October 2011Dear Friends, I would like to thank everyone for your concern and prayers for the Thai people at this time. The dreadful floods have created an enormous crisis on a scale never experienced in Thailand. At the moment, none of our sisters are affected. However, Prakanong, which is in Bangkok, could be affected tonight. We are busy trying to get ready for what the weather forecasters say will be a critical time for Bangkok. Some of our elderly sisters will move to a safer location in Chonburi which is about 80 Kilometers from Bangkok. There are many refugees in many camps. Many churches and Catholic schools have been flooded - to at least 1 or 2 meters. From this crisis, I have discovered that Thai people love and care for each other more than ever. Long may this last! In the meantime, we really need your prayers for the safety of all our people. Sr Wantana IJS, Thai Province Leader. |
