The foundation of a Community of Infant Jesus Sisters in Brno, Czech Republic came about in an unusual way.   Near the city of Brno, in Vranov, there is a Minim monastery.  After the collapse of the Communist Regime in the country, a group of young women interested in the Consecrated Life encountered the writings of Nicolas Barré during their visits to the monastery.  The monks put them in touch with the Institute and in 1998 a house was established in Brno, Lisen to facilitate a discernment process for some young women.  One of them felt called to join the Institute and after a period of formation in the English-Irish Province, she made her first commitment in 2005.  She returned to Brno and was joined by a sister from Ireland.  There are now 4 sisters in the community.  It became an independent District on 1st January 2017.

 

The ministries of the sisters include: teaching at secondary and third level, youth ministry, directing individual and group retreats, formation sessions in spiritual accompaniment, individual counselling and spiritual accompaniment,  research on “Spirituality and Health”,  awareness raising on “Care of the Earth”, support for families and young people far away from home, Lectio Divina groups.
