A Time to Remember...

Traditionally, November is the month when we remember to reflect, pray and celebrate the lives of our loved ones who have gone before us. We begin the month with All Souls Day where we are invited to confront the reality of death not with fear, but with Hope rooted in faith. It is a day about connection, prayer, remembrance. A day to pause, honour the lives that have shaped us and trust in God’s mercy for those who have passed.
Every life is precious and while we can be sad and mourn the loss, we can also rejoice in God’s mercy and that we may one day be reunited in heaven.
We can remember by:
Ø Attending Mass, offering the Eucharist
Ø Visiting cemeteries, praying, leaving flowers or lighting candles
Ø Acts of charity, performing good actions.
The words of Fr. Barré around the time of his death give us courage: ‘I believe, I hope, I want to always love’
The universal themes of love, loss, remembrance make All Souls Day relevant beyond religious boundaries. The rituals of remembrance may have meaning for those who do not share the same beliefs.
When we remember our loved ones, we also renew our faith that death is not the final word but a step towards fulfillment.
Take a moment to remember…
