For everything that grows in the earth, bless the Lord!

We are half way through the month of Creation, not that creation is confined to a month …
Pope Leo in his message for the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation ‘invites us to contemplate the gift of life and to cherish the earth that sustains it, these are tangible ways of offering praise to our Creator…’
The changing seasons of creation raise our hearts to give praise and appreciate all that God has given us. Looking at creation all around us calls us to be mindful and thankful. In the words of Fr. Barré, ‘The beauty of the world is made up of a multitude of different beauties’

Let us meditate on these words from Psalm 104:
You made the moon to tell the seasons;
the sun knows when to set;
You bring darkness on, night falls,
all the forest animals come out.
The sun rises, they retire,
going back to lay down in their lairs,
People go out to work and labour until dusk.
Lord, what variety you have created,
arranging everything so wisely!
Creator God, guide us each day to protect the beauty and diversity of our common home by our example and efforts to care and nurture.
