"Germoglio", an Inter-Congregational Dynamic for Young People

A wonderful initiative has blossomed in the Diocese of Bergamo (Italy). Young religious women from various communities have come together to create " Germoglio " (The Seed), a group that brings a breath of fresh air and hope to consecrated life and youth ministry. Sister Anna Pasinetti is part of this project on behalf of the Infant Jesus Sisters Nicolas Barré.

What is the future of religious life? For Sister Anna, the answer lies in one simple formula: "To journey and work together in unity!" It all began with a shared need among several young sisters in the diocese, at different stages of their formation: to meet, support one another, and share moments of pure fraternity. Supported by the Major Superiors, this project, named " Germoglio," brings the sisters together every month to discover their respective charisms.

A Renewed Vocation Ministry

In response to the group's vitality, the bishop asked them to offer a spiritual growth program for young girls. For the past three years, monthly meetings and summer camps have been co-organized for teenage girls, alternating between prayer, reflection, games, and charitable activities. These travelling weekends take place in the houses of the different Institutes to help them discover the diversity of consecrated life. "The gifts of each sister are a source of wealth," explains Sister Anna. "The young girls see that a beautiful atmosphere of fraternity reigns among us. Our wish is for each girl to follow the Lord and choose the form of life that suits her best." 

The Testimony of a Teenager

This joy shines through the participants. One of them shares the impact of this journey, which focused this year on female figures in the Bible: "The meetings (...) allow us to know ourselves better and to nurture our faith. During the January retreat, the story of the women in Jesus' genealogy made us realize His immense love for each of us, even when our own stories are difficult."

By breaking down the boundaries between congregations, these religious sisters prove that the future is built together. Sister Anna concludes: "Working together with other consecrated women is a sign of hope and vitality for the future of consecrated life!"
