Gifts to Serve…

There are a variety of gifts, but the same Spirit gives them all. There are different ways of serving, but the same Lord is served. There are different abilities to perform services but the same God gives to all for their particular service…’  1 Corinthians 12:4

In order to serve, sometimes we have to leave our comfort zone to reach out to others. Recognizing that we have different gifts is a gift, we complement each other. They are for the common good and the building up of society, if used wisely and well.

From an early age, potential gifts emerge. Fr. Barré in his Maxims, had strong ideas about each child developing their innate giftedness with the possibility of growing to full potential in a conducive environment.

              ‘Different species of trees produce different fruits. You should not look for cherries on a plum tree.The same is true of souls.Each one has to grow according to his/her own -innate giftedness’. (Maxim 41)
