Holy Week is the most sacred week of the Christian calendar, commerating the final days of Jesus’ ministry, His crucifixion and resurrection.
The week begins with Palm Sunday, 29th March, marking Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem and concludes with Easter Sunday, celebrating His resurrection.
During the week, special days are highlighted. Holy Thursday, the day Jesus celebrated the Last Supper with his apostles, and which we continue to celebrate to this day in the Eucharist. At that same time, He washed their feet as a sign of love and service.
Good Friday, a solemn day of reflection, fasting and prayer, marks the crucifixion of Jesus, where Jesus shows his love for humanity . On the cross, he cried out, ‘I am thirsty’. Today we are thirsty for that living water.
Easter Sunday, joy fills our hearts as we sing, ‘He is Risen, Alleluia’
We are invited as individuals, families, groups to enter prayerfully and participate in the various ceremonies this week.
