Violence has not brought about peace since the existence of the human species. Why do we think it will work today? And yet we continue to choose it, over and over again.
Why do some think that depriving men, women and children of food, shelter, water and fuel will bring about peace?
We know that violence begets violence, revenge ‘an eye for an eye’
Throughout history, some have challenged this mentality.
Jesus challenges us to love one another as we love ourselves, to have a non violent approach to conflict. He wants us to put our trust in Him and to be people of peace and love for others.
In the words of Fr. Barré: "A little love makes everything easy."

Love that draws us to friendship and fidelity
Love that leads us to kindness and compassion
Love that calls us to new vision and growth
Love that sees worth in every human being
Love that taps on the door of forgiveness
Love that longs for peace among all humankind
Love that sings praise for the face of earth’s beauty
Love that goes out to those from afar. Amen
