God first loved us. It is he who first loved us and loved us from all eternity. He took the initiative to love out of His infinite goodness.
Nicolas Barré invites us also to ‘love in the certitude of the infinitely great love that God has for each one of us’.
‘Abandonment is the surrender of oneself and of all one’s concerns to God, a confidence founded on the excessive love of God’.
Nicolas Barré, in one of his letters, expresses his prayer of abandonment in this way:
Lord, I want nothing more, I desire nothing more, only to be ready to desire what you desire and as you desire it. May Jesus live and His will be done! There is nothing left for me to desire.
Finally Lord, I want to belong totally to you.
