Mobilisation for the Common Home

ree

For the tenth anniversary of the encyclical Laudato Si', an international conference was organised by the Laudato Si' movement in collaboration with various ecclesial and institutional partners. It took place in Castel Gandolfo, Rome, from 1 to 3 October, attended by more than a thousand participants from 80 countries. Entitled ‘Raising Hope through Climate Justice’, it highlighted the urgent need for action!

Religious leaders, climate experts, representatives of civil society... many people came together. The aim was to define the next steps in implementing ecological conversion in the light of the Church's teaching. The reference point, of course, remains the encyclical published by Pope Francis in October 2015 on the protection of creation.

This meeting was preceded ‘by an event dedicated to COP30 and the global ethical assessment, attended by 35 religious leaders and Pope Leo XIV,’ according to the Vaticannews website.

An ecumenical celebration, led by young people, closed the Season of Creation on 4 October, voices of unity and hope for our common home.

This is an opportunity to recall that we, the Sisters of the Infant Jesus, are also committed to serving creation. From Europe to Africa, from Asia to South America, we run several programmes in this area, particularly to raise awareness among children... our future and that of the planet!
