This year, Pope Leo XIV invited everyone, during October, to pray the Rosary for PEACE.
The Rosary is a traditional catholic prayer to honour the Virgin Mary. It consists of 20 ‘mysteries’ that recall joyful, luminous, sorrowful and glorious episodes of the life of Jesus and Mary in the Gospels.
In N° 21 Book of the Institute, we’re invited ‘to pray to Mary under the various forms which the Church suggests, such as the rosary, so that we may know how ‘to listen to the Word of God and keep it’ (Luke 8:21)
Mary is the woman of prayer and work in Nazareth, she is also our Lady of Help, who sets out ‘with haste’ (Luke 1:39) to visit her cousin Elizabeth and to be of presence and service. Through Mary, a woman of sorrow, strength and faith, we ask for the gift of compassion towards every brother and sister who suffers.
During the Jubilee of Marian Spirituality, the Pope made reference to Mary’s words in the Gospel.
‘Her last words at the Wedding feast in Cana are particularly precious. Referring to Jesus, she said to the servants ‘Do whatever He tells you’ (John 2:5)
This can be seen as living out the Gospel with determination and joy, with all its demands and consolations.
During this month of October,
continue to pray and turn our gaze to Mary,
who guides us on our journey of hope.
