Since Saturday 14 June, the Infant Jesus Sisters have been holding their General Chapter in Rome, at the Generalate of the Brothers of the Christian Schools (De la Salle).
50 sisters from 4 continents with 3 lay people from 3 different continents representing the laity of the institute. The representative of the African continent was unavoidabily absent.
The opening ceremony was a highlight, marked by a moment of prayer in the chapel, followed by a procession where the participants invoked the Holy Spirit to guide them for the task ahead.
The opening address was given by Sr Brigitte, the Superior General calling the sisters to face our present realities which include : « wars, massive population migrations linked to poverty or global warming, terrotist attacks, pollution, human trafficking and natural disasters... However, there are also many good men and women who refuse, resist, get involved and share… Hope is not lost! »
The first few days gave the opportunity to the General Council to present the current situation of the Institute, between graces and challenges, and to invite the sisters present to reflect on the future.
