From April 20-27, the Thai Province held its annual retreat led by Fr. Shanti Abeyosingha, C.SsR. There were 27 Infant Jesus Sisters from Myanmar, Singapore, and Thailand took part. Invited, like Father Barre, to follow Jesus in a very specific and tangible way, the retreat participants said they "felt fresher mentally, physically and spiritually at the end of the retreat".
Then, from 1 to 6 May 2024, the Province of Thailand organised a seminar on the relevance of the charism of Blessed Nicholas Barre for today's world. It was a beautiful theme, on which 31 IJS from Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore and Thailand worked! Father Shanti Abeyosingha, C.SsR, was the guest speaker. One of the sisters said: "In accordance with the directives of Vatican II on the appropriate renewal of religious life, we began by taking a fresh look at the charism of Nicolas Barre' in its environment, and then in our own environment today, in the various countries where we are established. For example, conflicts at different levels sometimes make it difficult to carry out our mission." The sisters then took time to prioritise their missionary and apostolic efforts according to their respective countries. The five-day session ended with a prayerful reflection on the Incarnation and the spirit of abandonment advocated by Blessed Nicolas Barré.
