The Blessed Virgin, model of all perfection

          Birthdays are special occasions when we stop, pause, celebrate and marvel at what God is doing in our lives.

          On this day, the church celebrates the birthday of Mary the mother of Jesus.   

          Mary grew up simply under the loving care of Joachim and Anne. She was a woman of faith, open to what God was asking of her. While not always understanding, she allowed God to work through her life. In St. Luke’s gospel, 2:19, we read: ‘Mary treasured all these things and pondered them in her heart’

          Mary never ceased to contemplate the action of God in herself and in her people (B.I.21)  ‘He has done great things for me… He puts down the mighty…He raises up the lowly   (Luke 1:49-52)

            While contemplating on a picture or a statue of Mary…

Let us ask for the grace to imitate her simplicity, her faith and her total availability to the will of God.
