The contemplation of Jesus, the God-Man, enabled him to look with the eyes of faith on the reality which surrounded him.
Nicolas Barré listened to Jesus by reading and meditating on the Word of God and by contemplating Him in the Gospels. But he listened to Him also in the cries of the poor, the little ones, the unlearned, people in difficulty and overcome with problems. He listened to Him through the events of his own time, and in a spirit of faith sought to discover there the Will of God and respond to Him, ‘relying only on His providence’.
What has this message to say to us today? How can I respond?
We see around us homeless men, women and children, displaced people because of war and conflict, the cry of the poor, the cry of the earth.
What am I doing to save our planet?
As we approach the end of the Liturgical Year let us read (Matthew 25: 31-45)
